Leak Jet Plumbing

Blocked Drains & High-Pressure Jetting

A plunger or chemical drain cleaner treats the symptom. High-pressure water jetting clears the actual blockage — grease, roots, scale, or built-up debris — off the full internal wall of the pipe, not just enough to get water moving again. It's why we're called Leak Jet, and it's the service we'd stake our name on.

How to tell

Signs you might need this

Water drains slower than it used to, even after plunging
Gurgling sounds from drains when other fixtures are used
A bad smell coming from a drain, gully, or manhole
Water backing up into a bath, shower, or sink that isn't in use
Recurring blockages in the same drain every few months

How it works

Our process

01

CCTV check (if needed)

For recurring or unclear blockages, we run a camera through first to see exactly what we're dealing with.

02

High-pressure jetting

Water at up to several thousand PSI strips the pipe wall clean — grease, roots, and scale included.

03

Flow test

We run water through to confirm the line is fully clear, not just unblocked enough to pass for now.

What's included

  • Full-bore jetting, not a partial clear
  • CCTV inspection add-on for recurring blockages
  • Root-cutting attachment for tree-root intrusion
  • Advice on what caused it, so it doesn't happen again

What it costs

A standard call-out for drain jetting typically runs R800–R1,500 in the Western Cape. If the blockage is recurring or the cause isn't obvious, a CCTV inspection (R1,500–R3,000) pays for itself by stopping you from paying for the same call-out every few months.

Questions about this service

Is jetting safe for old pipes?

Yes for the vast majority of residential pipework — we adjust pressure for the pipe material and age. If a line is genuinely too fragile, we'll say so before starting, not after.

Why does the same drain keep blocking?

Usually tree roots, a partial collapse, or a persistent grease build-up further down the line than a plunger or chemical cleaner can reach — a CCTV inspection tells us which.

Can you clear tree roots from drains?

Yes — we use a root-cutting attachment alongside jetting to clear root intrusion, then advise on relining or repair if the roots have damaged the pipe itself.
